SSDI and SSI — Request for Reconsideration
The appeal from an initial denial of a Social Security disability claim in Texas is called a Request for Reconsideration. This appeal is decided by the same state agency that made the initial decision, and is usually made within 90-120 days.
It is crucial that work begins on the appeal promptly, and that full evidence regarding your claim, including the opinions of your treating physician regarding your functional limitations be submitted with the appeal or as soon thereafter as possible.
I also submit an explanation of the legal basis of the claim, and discuss therein the specific regulations, and Social Security rulings applicable to the claim.
